While production on the 23rd installment of James Bond won't finish till May, new stills have emerged. While most of them thread old ground, showing Daniel Craig's Bond scowling with his gun drawn, we do get our first look at Ralph Fiennes, in his unspecified government agent role.
Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall sees Bond come to the aid of superior, M (Judi Dench), after a threat from her past resurfaces. Javier Bardem also stars as main villain, Raoul Silva, with the Bond girl roles been filled by Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe. Albert Finney also plays an unspecified role, with popular theory being he is M's boss, and gadget master Q makes a reappearance after being absent form Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace, this time being played by Ben Whishaw.
With 2012 marking the 50th anniversary of the release of first James Bond film Dr. No, Mendes has big plans for his debut on the franchise. He has hinted at more familiar characters from the series besides Q making an appearance. He has also said he wants to explore the origins of MI6, and to bring some humour back to the franchise after the quite dark previous installments (but hopefully not to the extent of the Roger Moore era).
