The Twilight franchise has earned over $2 billion worldwide, and attracted a legion of fans since the first book appeared way back in 2005. Now with the final installment, Breaking Dawn part 2, hitting cinemas on November 16th, rumours are beginning to circulate that more movies could be on the way to continue the franchise on the big screen.
According to Bloody Disgusting, "They are already discussing it internally. It will happen."They were sketchy on the details, offering that it could be a direct remake, or a sequel, or even a spin off. They even went on to say that Lionsgate, the parent company of Summit Entertainment which made the Twilght movies, would deny the rumours, and remained adamant that they were true. And deny Lionsgate did, with Deadline posting the rebuttal, "We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change". While they somewhat deny the rumours, it does seem that a continuation of the franchise is something they have considered or would consider.
I for one would rather they ended with the new film. They had a good run, made several shed loads of money, but it's time to let go, and for everybody involved to focus on something else. But the fan base is there, so only time will tell.
