When Russell Crowe signed on for Harker, a re-imaging of Bram Stoker's Dracula, it was believed the actor would play the lead role of Jonathan Harker, a Scotland Yard detective (as opposed to a solicitor as he was in the original book). But now it's been revealed he will actually be playing the villain of the piece, Dracula, being hunted by the title character. The script by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy sets up a possible franchise, with Harker, who has yet to be cast, facing other famous icons of classic horror in future installments.
The hunt is still on for a director, ever since Unknown's Jaume Collet-Senna left the production to work on the now dead Akira adaption. The studio behind the movie, Warner Bros., are now in talks with Eli Roth to direct. If he agrees this will be his first time directing since 2007's Hostel: Part II.
