Right then, some final news on Ghostbusters 3 and Bill Murray, and unfortunately its not good news. Peter Venkman Ph.D will not be in the the third movie. And it’s not some wild rumour either.
It’s comes direct from Dan Aykroyd who was asked in an interview in Metro about Murray being involved “No, I can tell you he won’t be involved.” He went on to say “It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.”
And as for Ghostbusters 3 itself, Akyroyd says that they’ve got a brilliant new writer and they’ll be passing the torch to a new generation and it should be in production next year. He also makes the point that they’re working on making it right to satisfy the fans. Which is great, but considering the last time a proton pack was discharged in public was 1989 and given the current economic climate, this is going to have to appeal to a bunch of new generations as well. Personally, I would have loved to see Murray back, but thems the breaks as they say.
What do you think? A Ghostbusters 3 without Bill Murray? Can it work?
