New images have surfaced of Joss Whedon's adaption of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing (brought to screen once before by Kenneth Branagh), a movie he shot in his own home during a twelve day break from working on The Avengers. Presented in black and white, it offers a contemporary spin, while still using the bard's original text, on the classic tale of two very different pairs of lovers: Benedick and Beatrice, who engage in 'merry war', glibly pouring scorn on love, marriage and each other, and Claudio and Hero, who are absolutely infatuated with each other.
The impressive cast includes many actors Whedon has worked before in his various T.V., film, and internet projects, including Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Alexis Denisoff (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Amy Acker (Dollhouse), and Clark Gregg (The Avengers). There is no word on a release date as of, but the film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, as Whedon himself puts it, "Because it's fancy". Hopefully it will secure an international and U.S. distributor after it's premiere, because, I don't know about you, this is a movie I really, really want to see.
