Filming began on Darren Aronofsky's religious epic Noah in July, and we now have our first image of Russell Crowe, landing the role after both Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender declined, as the biblical figure who builds an Ark to survive a flood sent by God.
Aronofsky's vision seems to be pretty different from any other retelling of the story, with giants, six armed angels (which I can't wait to see brought to life) and demons all making an appearance. This is a project the director has been trying to get off the ground for some time now, after becoming obsessed with the bible story at the age of 13.
Joining Crowe are Jennifer Connelly as Noah's wife Naameh, Anthony Hopkin's as his grandfather, Methuselah, and Ray Winstone as Noah's nemesis Tubal Cain. Rounding out the main cast are Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, and Emma Watson as Noah and Naameh's sons and adopted daughter.
