Yet another example of Hollywood's current fascination with fairy tales, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters offers a twist on the classic tale of the children with impulse control problems. Set 15 years after their brush with the cannibalistic witch, the two siblings have grown up to be expert witch hunters, using a vast amount of weaponry to take down their prey. Jeremy Renner and Gamma Arterton play the siblings, and they are joined by Famke Janssen, and Peter Stormare.
The film has been a long time coming, with filming having wrapped up in 2011, and the orignal release date of March 2nd 2012 being pushed back till next year. The trailer looks fun enough, despite some dodgy looking CGI in places. There is a Van Helsing vibe running through, but lets hope it turns out to be a little bit better than that. At this stage, Renner can do roles like in his sleep, but it will be interesting to see Arterton in a more action focused role.
