As I always say The Jameson Cult Film Club is an experience NOT to be missed!!!!! Photos below.
The Jameson Cult Film Club returned to Dublin last night (27th November) with an interactive screening of the shark thriller, JAWS (1977) on Amity Island aka The Tivoli Theatre. Continuing on from this year’s other successful screenings of cult classics Reservoir Dogs, Snatch, Blues Brothers and Silence of the Lambs, the Jameson Cult Film Club was challenged with transporting the audience right into the ‘jaws’ of this killing machine for another unforgettable viewing experience and ticket holders were not left disappointed.
The venue was completely transformed to replicate Amity Island and on approach, guests were herded to dry land under the watchful eye of the lifeguard on duty. Purposeful actors played out the parts of Roy Scheider's Chief Brody, Robert Shaw's Captain Quint and Richard Dreyfuss' know-it-all oceanographer Hooper in key scenes while fishermen trawled the jetty after there was talk of an ominous shark fin seen gliding through the murky waters.
Beachgoers also got the chance to hang out with Quint at the bar as he told grandiose tales of the sea and led everyone in a round of “Show Me the Way to Go Home”, whilst in the next room a council meeting took place to decide if the beach should remain open – luckily for Jameson Cult Film Club fans, they decided it should!
Live theatre and special effects timed perfectly with on-screen action helped to create an electric atmosphere throughout the screening, including a brilliant pyrotechnic display in the final scene where the whole audience got sprayed with water as Brody shot the exploding air tank in the shark’s mouth.
As well as treating Dublin movie buffs to an amazing theatrical event, Jameson screened this iconic shark thriller in all its glory from the digitally re-mastered and fully restored Blu-ray, enabling the Jameson Cult Film Club audience to experience the film on the big screen in a quality never seen before. Guests also enjoyed refreshing Jameson, Ginger and Lime long drinks and chowed down on chunky fish and chips.
Enjoying the Jameson Cult Film Club Experience were rugby players Devin Toner, Tom Denton, Leo Auva'a and Tom Sexton, along with actor David Coffey, TV presenters Liam McCormack and Lottie Ryan and models Carl Shaaban, Matthew Toman and Shane Lennon.
