There has been a spate of concert movies in recent times, with U2, Kathy Perry, and Justin Biber all getting in on the action. One band I thought I would never going down this route was metal band Metallica, but I am proved wrong with the announcement of Metallica Through the Never, shot last Summer over three nights when the band played Vancouver. But this isn't your normal concert movie, with a fictional narritve running between the band playing their well known hits. Written and directed by Nimrod Antal (Predators), the plot revolves around a crew member (Chronicle's Dane DeHaan) sent out on an urgent errand while the band are on stage. I'm intrigued by this, and has the potential to be something awesome.
No more details, other than it will be presented in 3D, are known at this time. The release date is set for August 9th.
