Ron Howard is at it again, not content with his already impressive back log of impressive movies he's rumoured to be delving into another project. The director with the Midas touch is said to be circling In The Heart Of The Sea.
Previously the Warner Bros project has been in development for over ten years now and it was reported that Chris Hemsworth was signed up to play the starring role. Howard himself worked with the actor on Rush only last year. The story is based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s non-fiction book.
The book centres on the Essex, a whaling ship which was destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. A familiar premise, it was used as the inspiration behind Moby Dick.
Chris Hemsworth is playing the vessel's first mate who took control of the situation and tried to save his fellow crew members and his own life. The script is by Charles Leavitt who worked on Blood Diamond, all going well it could start shooting by the end of the year.
In addition to In The Heart Of The Sea Howard is also contemplating other projects including Graveyard Book and All I’ve Got.
