Movies evoke a number of emotions (granted some evoke nothing but contempt :) ) and laughter is the emotion that tops peoples lists time and time again. We’re taking a brief look at some off beat comedies which you may not have seen in a while and are certainly worth watching again!
10 Cedar Rapids
Insurance agent Tim Lippe’s adventures at the Cedar Rapids, Iowa insurance convention are fast-finding their way into comedy movie folklore – and justifiably so. This is unmissable.
9 Trainspotting
If you hadn’t really thought of Trainspotting as an offbeat comedy, then perhaps your sense of humour just isn’t quite black enough. This remains one of the finest comedy films cinema Edinburgh has to offer.

8 Annie Hall
Any list like this has to have at least one Woody Allen film in it – but we have two. Annie Hall is often considered Woody Allen’s best achievement when neurotic New York comedian Alvy Singer falls in love with Annie Hall.
7 Swingers
Wannabe actors living on the 'east side' of Hollywood during the mid 90s swing revival become regulars in the neo-lounge scene as Trent teaches his pal Mike the unwritten rules; hilarious. And of course it heralded the big time arrival of Vince Vaughan and Jon Favreau
6 Eagle vs. Shark
Eagle vs. Shark tells the tale of two social misfits and the weird ways they seek love - via revenge on high-school bullies, cheeseburgers, and video games; bizarrely funny.
5 Napoleon Dynamite
Napoleon Dynamite will either “click” with your psyche or it won’t. But give it a try. An alienated teenager tries to help his new friend become class president while dealing with his weird family life. A genuine cult classic

4 Zelig
The second Woody Allen classic on the list sees the main character fitting in as the human chameleon wherever he possibly can; all filmed documentary style and un-missable.
3 Little Miss Sunshine
The family take a road trip to help “Olive” fulfil her dream of beauty pageant stardom; superb.
2 Living in Oblivion
Living in Oblivion is a wonderful low-budget independent film about the making of a less than wonderful low-budget independent film! It’s one you can watch over and over.
1 The Big Lebowski
The Big Lebowski has to be in the number one spot. Here, unemployed ten-pin bowling enthusiast Jeff Lebowski aka "The Dude", suffers a case of mistaken identity. He’s then introduced to a millionaire with the same name and asked to deliver a ransom to secure the release of the millionaire’s young trophy wife; possibly the greatest comedy ever made. Abide!
