The most off beat movie of Marvel Studio's cinematic plans so far, James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy has added another cast member with former wrestler Dave Bautista (last seen as Brass Body in The Man With The Iron Fists) joining the cast as Drax The Destroyer. He joins Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, a human forced to team up with a band of renegade alien when he is transported to a far away galaxy. Jason Mamoa (Game Of Thrones, Conan) was attached to the role previously.
In the comics, Drax is a human being killed by Thanos, the villain seen in the post credits teaser of the Avengers, then resurrected with a super powered alien body with the sole purpose of seeking revenge. If Marvel go ahead with making Thanos the big bad of the Avengers sequel, there is a good chance the Guardians will play a part, which could be a bit surreal, considering other members of the team include a giant talking tree, and a machine gun toting raccoon. But Marvel Studio's have yet to take a step wrong, so I'm confident that they can make this work.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is released August 1st 2014.
