While it is still up in the air who will be directing the third installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise, since JJ Abrams is busy with Star Wars Episode VII (though he will remain on as producer), wordhas reached two familiar names will return. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will return to pen the third movie, having shepherded Kirk, Spock and the rest of the crew of the Starship Enterprise since the franchise got rebooted in 2009. Damon Lindeloff, who helped the pair on Star Trek Into Darkness, will not return. There is no word on the release date as of yet, but it is expected to take advantage of Star Trek's 50th anniversary in 2016.
Star Trek Into Darkness was a whole lot of fun, especially when it came to the action, but it soon became bogged down with so much fan service. Hopefully, with that itch scratched, Orci and Kurtzman can focus on a new story, which will hopefully finally give the fans what they want. And what the fans (okay, this fan) want is Klingons!!!
