Director Paul W.S. Anderson is known for CGI filled action (see Resident Evil, and The Three Musketeers), and while he does get a lot of hate, not altogether unwarranted, thrown his way, his movies aren't all that bad (though he should know when to let the Resident Evil franchise die), working best when he plays to his strengths. With this teaser trailer for Pompeii, he seems to be doing just that, putting his own spin on the infamous city and it's volcano aided decimation. While in doesn't show much, the scenes of destruction at the end are impressive.
In between the lava and fireballs, Pompeii tells the tale of an enslaved celtic gladiator (Kit Harrington, no doubt causing a multitude of Game of Thrones fans to shout "You know nothing Jon Snow!" at the screen) who finds love and the chance of revenge on the eve of the city's destruction. The film also stars Emily browning, Jared Harris, Kiefer Sutherland, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
