Not content with having two mega successful horror franchises with Insidious and The Purge (a sequel is currently in development), Jason Blum's Blumhouse Pictures is currently eyeing a third potential franchise with Incarnate. Directed by Journey 2's Brad Peyton, from a script by Ronnie Christenson, the film stars Aaron Eckhart as an exorcist who has the special ability to enter his subject's subconcious. When taking the case of a possessed nine year old, he is confronted by an evil from his past.
Blumhouse have really impressed me with their horror output lately (even though the movies aren't exactly perfect), going for unique twists on the genre, and that model is definitely working for them with both Insidious movies and The Purge raking in a combined total of $224 million (that will only rise, with Insidious: Chapter 2 is still in its first week of release). Considering the collective budget of those three movies is $9.5 million, that is mightily impressive.
