Screenwriter Etan Cohen (not to be confused with Ethan Cohen, one half of The Cohen Brothers) has a good track record in comedy writing, with Idiocracy and Tropic Thunder under his belt, and now he's trying his hand at directing with Get Hard, with Will Ferrell in the lead role. Cohen already has a solid relationship with the actor, also directing him in the upcoming Daddy's Home.
In Get Hard, Ferrell will play a rich bank manager who is wrongly convicted and sentenced to time in maximum security prison. In order to fully prepare for his time in prison, he hires his car washer (Kevin Hart, next seen in Grudge Match) to toughen him up. And if this feels familiar, this is the exact plot of Rob Schneider's Big Stan, but it's actually a very good concept with plenty of potential. The project i s currently in development, with no word on a release date.
