Most people know him as the nerdy Mos from The IT Crowd, but Richard Ayoade has shown he has a strong career as a director ahead of him, his 2010 debut Submarine showing he had a great sense of wit and style. The teaser for his second movie, The Double, has dropped, showing that Submarine wasn't a fluke. While billed as a comedy, this teaser doesn't really give that away, coming across as more of a psychological thriller. It doesn't really give anything away, but it is incredibly stylish, and has enough to get people interested.
Loosely based on the novel by Fyodor Dostovesky, Jesse Eisenberg stars as Simon, a neurotic and awkward office worker who slowly descends into insanity when his confident and charismatic double James (also Eisenberg) takes over his life. Yeah, sounds like a laughfest.
The Double also stars Mia Wasikowska, Noah Taylor, and Wallace Shawn. No release date has been given as of yet.
