If you ask me the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is in a spot of bother. Especially after its Christian Grey has now dropped out. Charlie Hunnam has pulled out of the role (and his red room of pain). A statement from Universal Pictures reads
The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.
When Hunnam was announced as Grey, the fangirls / boys lost their shit, and not in a good way. A petition, 80,000 strong denouncing Hunnam made some serious headlines. As per usual, dickhead fans, expected to rule the roost, lashing out after expecting the likes of Ryan Gosling to get the role, or even Robert Pattinson. And maybe these fanboys/girls (who I detest with their controlling and entitlement attitude that they exude) have got their way.
And to continue with my original “spot of bother” thought, the movie was pencilled in for an August 2014 release date, which if you ask me, is pushing it and the whole thing is screaming of cash in, on the books immense popularity.
