The epic Django Unchained could be said to be one of Quentin Tarantino's best films (personally I think it is his best script to date, bagging him the best Original Screenplay Oscar this year), and it looks like the director will be staying in the Western genre for the time being, though it won't be a Django sequel. Speaking on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, he teased his next project, saying, "I haven't told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It's not a Django sequel, but it's another Western. I had so much doing Django and I love Westerns so much, that after I thought myself how to make one, it's like 'OK, now let me make another one now that I know what I'm doing'".
This goes against claims that Killer Crow, a companion piece to Inglorious Basterds about a group of black soldiers who go AWOL during World War II, would be his next film, but this is to be expected from the director. He has so many projects rattling around in his head that he talks up, it is hard to gauge which ones will actually make it to the big screen. Dream projects of his that have never materialised include The Vega Brothers, with Michael Madsen and John Travolta reprising their roles from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill Vol. 3. But whatever he decides to make, I can't wait for his return to the big screen.
