This happens every couple of years, two movies are released which share pretty much the same story. We've had Armageddon and Deep Impact before, and most recently Olympus has Fallen and White House Down. Now it's the legend of Hercules' turn with The Rock flexing his considerable muscles in the role for Hercules (sometimes known to have the subtitle The Thracian Wars) in the summer of 2014, and this film, Hercules: The Legend Continues, which beats it by six months, coming out in January (in the U.S., august on this side of the pond). Kellan Lutz (Twilight) plays the demi-god who must reunite with his true love after being sold into slavery. Director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea) is definitely going for a 300/Gladiator vibe, but it'll be interesting to see how this fares against a charismatic, giant box office guarantee like Dwayne Johnson. Seriously, even if the movies aren't that good, his presence always brings a huge return.
Released: 10th January 2014 (U.S.)/ 8th August 2014 (IRL/U.K.)
