Candlestick To Make Irish Debut At IndieCork Film Festival

Workbus  Ltd.  is  delighted  to  announce  that  CANDLESTICK,  the  second  feature  from  emerging  filmmaker  Christopher  Presswell,  is  to  make  its  Irish  debut  at  the  IndieCork  Film  Festival.   
   
A  stylish  retro  suspense  thriller,  CANDLESTICK  tells  of  a  social  gathering  rocked  to  its  core  when  host  Jack  accuses  his  best  friend’s  wife  of  infidelity.  But  as  the  allegations  start  flying,  it  soon  emerges  that  a  far  more  sinister  game  is  at  play.   
   
Channeling  Alfred  Hitchcock’s  Rope  and  Dial  M  for  Murder  with  its  sinister  protagonist  and  single  location  setting,   

CANDLESTICK  is  a  stylized  throwback  to  vintage  1950s  cinema  with  a  contemporary  relevancy.   
   
Hot  on  the  heels  of  its  UK  premiere  at  the  Aberdeen  Film  Festival,  CANDLESTICK  will  screen  in  the  features  strand  of  IndieCork  at  the  Gate  Cinema  on  Tuesday  14th  October,  9pm.  Stars  Andrew  Fitch  and  Nigel  Thomas,  director  of  photography  Haider  Zafar,  and  director  and  co-­‐writer  Christopher  Presswell  are  expected  to  attend.   
   
Director   Christopher   Presswell   comments:   “I  am  thrilled  that  Candlestick  will  be  making  its  Irish  debut  at  IndieCork  in  its  sophomore   year.   The   festival   is   already   shaping   up   to   be   a   fantastic   output   for   independent   cinema   and   music,   further  cementing  its  place  as  one  of  the  highlights  of  Corks  cultural  calendar.   
   
CANDLESTICK  stars  Andrew  Fitch  as  mischievous  host  Jack,  Isla  Ure  (BFI  Future  Film  Nominee  2012,  Red  Dwarf  X)  as  the  alluring  Vera,  Nigel  Thomas,  and  Tom  Knight  (Harry  Potter  and  the  Chamber  of  Secrets),  alongside  a  supporting  performance  from  Dan  March  (The  Real  MacGuffins,  Pramface,  Miranda).   
   
26-­‐year-­‐old   filmmaker   Christopher   Presswell   directs   his   second   feature   from   his   screenplay,   co-­‐written   with   Hungarian  screenwriter  András  Forgács.   Director  of  photography  Haider  Zafar’s  work  on   Vendetta  was  last  year   praised  by  leading  critic  Mark  Kermode,  and  the  film  features  a  full  orchestral  score  written  by  Jonathan  Armandary,  performed  by  the  City  of  Prague  Philharmonic  Orchestra.   
   
IndieCork   runs   from   Sunday   12th   October      Sunday   19th   October   2014.   CANDLESTICK   is   scheduled   for   a   multi-­‐platform  release  in  the  US  in  Spring  2015,  with  details  of  a  UK  and  Ireland  release  to  follow.
