The saga has had many twists and turns, but now there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for The Interview. With the number of American theaters showing the comedy that gave rise to hacking and terrorist threats now reportedly at three hundred, Sony have announced that the movie has hit the VOD market also, with Youtube Movies, Google Play, Microsoft's XBox Video, and it's own dedicated theinterview-movie.com, offering our American friends the movie to rent or buy. While there is no word on when it will be available on this side of the pond, this is certainly a major step forward in the evolution of day and date digital release, and I'm intrigued to see where this business model will go from here.
Call it a Christmas miracle, or, it you're cynical, the greatest marketing campaign ever, but hopefully this will see the insane saga come to an end.
