With it’s August release date fast approaching, the final trailer for Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot has come our way, adding some new details to the familiar story, including a look at the friendship between a young Reed Richards and Ben Grimm (complete with a cameo from Homer Simpson himself, Dan Castellaneta, as a snarky teacher). It’s a nice little detail that was missing from the original movies, and gives a better understanding of the older Reed’s motivation to help his friends. In fact, this entire trailer delves more into the story than the ones that came before, as they seemed more concerned with showing off the new Fantastic Four than explaining what brings them together. It’s a good look at the stakes the movie is playing with, and while we do get to see a bit more of him this time round, Toby Kebbell’s Doctor Doom is still being kept to the sidelines, something I’m very happy with. Keeping the bad guy pretty much a mystery like this is something rarely done with blockbusters like this.
Released: August 7th
