Of all the movies vying for the Young Adult adaption crown The Hunger Games will vacate come November, last year’s The Maze Runner made the strongest case as a worthy successor, and now with the latest trailer for its follow-up, The Scorch Trials, things are looking even better for the new franchise.
The best part of The Maze Runner was the world and mythology building, making sure a living, breathing world was there to serve as a backdrop as the mysterious, post apocalyptic events played out before us, and that continues on here. There’s also the promise of much more action this time round, and when you’re looking for a bad guy, you can’t do worse than the dodgy accented charm of Aidan Gillen, can you?
Released: 11th September (IRL/U.K.)/ 18th September (U.S.)
