Paramount has revealed it's plans for Jack Ryan, the agent made popular on film by Harrison Ford. While the latest entry in the film series of the character, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was no means a flop (in actual fact it's an entertaining and polished political thriller), neither did it ignite the revival that had been hoped.
Well, good news for his fans today; Jack Ryan will return to our screens, only this time he'll be getting his own tv show. The downside to this? It's a certainty that Chris Pine won't be returning to the role that has also been taken on by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
Carlton Cuse, who produced hits like Lost, Bates Motel and most recently The Strain, looks set to be named as showrunner for the series but no word yet on the style of the show. Will it be more politically charged like Homeland, or is there space in the market for another all out actioner in the same vein as 24? Time will tell on this project, and a big factor is likely to be who they can wrangle up to star.
