In between telling trolls to go fuck themselves this week, Paul Feig has made an announcement on his Twitter. I'm just getting in there before some of you go losing your shit about us leaking something.
So that's Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray all making cameos. Presumably, Weaver will follow the in the footsteps of the other cameos and actually make an appearance, but not as her original character. Can Rick Moranis now be dragged out of retirement too? Are all these cameos to please the fans?
Truth be told, I'm not a fan of an all female Ghostbusters. Not because I believe woman should be chained to the sink, giving birth while washing the dishes. Far from it. It's just something that doesn't lend itself to a female cast. It'd be like having Han Solo as a woman. Maybe Paul Feig will tell me to fuck myself too. I jest Paul, I jest.
However, it must be incredibly frustrating for Feig to put this movie together with the amount of hate that is being hurled at the project. Some of that frustration is obviously coming out on his Twitter account. Originally Feig turned down Ghostbusters 3, to try something different with an all female version. And you have to tip your hat to him for that at least. All that said, while none of the keyboard warrior fuckwits have seen the movie, Feig must surely be asking himself (at least at some point) was this a good idea after all? Yes, fanboys and girls can be ruthless. But sometimes they may have a point.
Ultimately though, before we all take massive shits in bags and set fire to them outside Feig's front door, let's wait and see what the final product will be like next Summer.
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I'll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!
