While he may in the action blockbuster section of his career, James Wan is returning to the horror well for The Conjuring 2, the sequel to the box office smash that showed that he gets what the genre ticks unlike anyone else, before going underwater with Jason Mamoa with Aquaman. The sequel, entitled The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, has just begun filming, and sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprising their roles of real life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. The subtitle suggests the movie will touch on the poltergeist activity reported at a council house in England between 1977 and 1979 that the Warrens investigated and received a lot of media coverage at the time.
To mark the first day of shooting, Wan and New Line Cinema have shared the first images from the set, confirming that the set was blessed by a priest in a special ceremony before filming began. Because of course it would.
