While his upcoming role as Batman may the only thing we relate to Ben Affleck at this stage, lets not forget that he is an accomplished director, with an Best Picture Oscar winning film under his belt (Argo, for those scratching their heads) and even though he’ll be firmly entrenched in the DCCU for the next couple of years, he still has the directing itch to scratch. Which brings us nicely to Live By Night, a project he has been prepping since 2013. Of course, a couple of major roles got in the way since then (Batman and Gone Girl), but filming has finally begun on his next directorial effort, and we have the Twitter post to prove it:

Based on the book by Denis Lehane (his second adaption of the author’s work after Gone Baby Gone), Affleck will be pulling double duty as Joe Coughlin, a petty thief in 1920’s Boston who turns Prohibition to his advantage and becomes the Gulf Coast’s most successful Rum Runner. He will lead the cast alongside Elle Fanning, Chris Messina, Chris Cooper, Sienna Miller, and Zoe Saldana.
Released date is given for 2017, but nothing concrete as of yet.
