The latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens pretty much set the Internet on fire, clocking up 112 million views in twenty four hours, and while it was generally believed to be the final trailer, there was still many a fan who thought we’d see more footage from our highly anticipated return to a galaxy far, far away before the movie hit cinemas in December. But, speaking to Extras, JJ Abrams has revealed that we’ve more or less seen what we will of The Force Awakens, with the movie now being confined to the Mystery Box, and t.v spots with more than likely recycled being all we’ll see from now on:
We’re getting very close, the next thing’s really gonna be the movie. There will be commercials, but no more trailers… We’ve all been working really hard to give people something that will be special to them. Our fingers are just very tightly crossed that when people see the movie they’ll like it.
Yes, we’re all hyped sufficiently that we want to see as much as we can of the movie before it drops on us, but this is the best possible scenario (and vintage Abrams) to keep the movie fresh as it can be, keeping our anticipation at atmospheric levels.
