Too old for this shit? Apparently not! Furious 7 director James Wan is keen to use his influence at the moments to resurrect a beloved film series from the 1980s and 1990s; Lethal Weapon, the finest example of the buddy cop actioner there has ever been.
It's been reported though, than rather than reboot it for the big screen, it will now be filmed for tv, with Fox after buying the rights from Warner Bros and a pilot set to be produced.
The synopsis for the tv show will be as follows; "Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs moves to Los Angeles to start anew after the death of his wife and child. Once there, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who has recently suffered a minor heart attack and must avoid any stress in his life."
Whether or not the new series can capture any of the magic of the original remains to be seen. Part of the reason Lethal Weapon was a success was the chemistry between Gibson and Glover, who obviously won't be reprising their roles.
Lethal Weapon isn't the only movie series headed our way as a tv show either. Currently in the pipeline are shows based on Training Day, Behind Enemy Lines, The Notebook, Friday The 13th, and an all-female A-Team. As always, thoughts below in the comments.
