We heard a rumour earlier today the Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel, previously titled Alien: Paradise Lost, was getting another title change, now being called Alien: Covenant. Now, it’s being made official with a title treatment reminiscent of his 1979 classic and a release date set for October 6th 2017.
On top of that, we have gotten an official synopsis which places the sequel squarely in the Alien universe, posting it as the second part in a prequel trilogy, and that it will also connect directly with the original. What’s missing is the role Noomi Repace, who has been said to be reprising the role of Elisabeth Shaw, will play in the sequel, as well as how this ties into what came before. You can hear our thoughts on the movie on the latest podcast, but from this, it doesn’t exactly fill me with excitement an Alien sequel should:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
