If you’ve seen the video for DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s Turn For What, you’ll know what an insane piece of genius it is. Well, brace yourself for Swiss Army Man, the feature debut from that video’s directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as DANIELS). Starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, the movie follows the desperate and lonely Hank (Dano), driven to suicide after years trapped on a desert island. His attempt to kill himself is interrupted when a corpse named Manny (Radcliffe) washes ashore. Whether or not Hank is actually hallucinating the fact that Manny is talking to him (in between farting. Alot), the two become fast friends and embark on a magical and surreal journey to get Hank home.
Swiss Army Man certainly promises to be a weird one, but, god damn it, DANIELS have certainly come up with something intriguing here, and the prospect of Radcliffe in a role a million miles away from what we’ve seen him in before should entice a few people.
Swiss Army Man reaches American shores on June 17th. No release date for this side of the pond has been given as of yet.
