After he took off the cowl following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and before he went on to direct the long in the offing Live by Night, Ben Affleck signed up for Gavin O’Connor’s (Warrior) The Accountant, taking the lead role as a math savant who supplements his day job as an accountant to several dangerous criminal organisations by moonlighting as a lethal assassin. Sounds like a pretty bonkers premise, but as you can see from the trailer below, Affleck, thanks to script from The Judge’s Bill Dubuque, pulls it off spectacularly.
With an impressive supporting cast that includes Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, John Lithgow, and Jeffery Tambor, this is a curious little picture. This first teaser is just that, but it sets up the movie nicely, sowing enough seeds to have audiences intrigued about the finished product. If this wasn’t on you radar before it definitely is now.
