It’s a safe bet no one knew thing one about Morgan (unfortunately not the Morgan Freeman biopic we all don’t know we want) just a few hours, but now the first trailer is here, and damn it if this has’t rocketed to the top of my must see list. The feature debut of Luke Scott (son of Ridley), it tells the tale of a corporate trouble shooter (Kate Mara) who is sent to a remote, top secret lab to investigate a terrifying accident. While there she comes face to face with a dangerous, rapidly evolving artificial intelligence in human form.
While it may thread familiar sci-fi tropes, this first trailer, with it’s unsettling music cues and genuine feeling of menace, suggests Scott will be able to wring something a whole lot more more out of the well worn ‘science gone wrong’ story. On top of that, you can’t go wrong with a cast that includes Mara, Toby Jones, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michelle Yeoh, Rose Leslie, Paul Giamatti, and Anya Taylor-Joy, the breakout star from The Witch.
Released: 2nd September
