Inspired by the true story of Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure in 2007, The Young Offenders is a comedy road which sees two inner-city Cork teenagers, aiming a bit higher than their daily routine of stealing bikes, get word that a bale of cocaine worth €7 million is unaccounted for after a massive drug bust. The two embark on a trip chaotic trip to West Cork to make their fortune, not knowing a determined Garda sergeant is in hot pursuit. Ahead of it’s premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh on July 8th, the first trailer for Peter Foot’s feature debut, after making his name on Republic of Telly and The Rubber Bandit’s Horse Outside music video, has come our way, and while anybody outside of the Emerald Isle will be scratching their heads at those references, our Irish readers will know exactly what to expect, and on that count this looks incredibly promising.
The Young Offenders hits screens nationwide on September 16th.
