Ahead of it’s highly anticipated presentation at the weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, four new images from The LEGO Batman Movie have been unveiled, via USA Today, giving us our first look at Zach Galifianakis’ Joker and Michael Cera as the super positive, sequin caped Robin. The new movie also brings with it fun twists to the well established characters, with director Chris McKay revealing the Joker is on a quest ‘trying to prove to prove to Batman that he is indeed his greatest enemy’, while Robin, instead of being orphaned after his parents are murdered (a bit too dark for a kids movie maybe), is a child Bruce Wayne ‘accidentally adopts at a charity auction’, who 'just wants a hug’. With The LEGO Movie proving this version of Bats to be an egotistical blowhard, this dynamic does promise some big laughs.
Released: February 10th 2017
Synopsis: In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
