The first of two sequels filmed back to back, with Glengarry Glen Ross’ James Foley replacing original director Sam Taylor-Johnson, Fifty Shades Darker has revealed it’s first trailer, no doubt delighting the legions of fans of E.L. James’ trilogy of novels who helped earn the first movie $560 million worldwide. Those who were less than impressed with how Fifty Shades of Grey turned out are probably feeling the opposite right now, especially with that incredibly grating cover of Beyonce’s Crazy in Love.
But let’s not judge a movie by it’s trailer, as Fifty Shades Darker does at least hint at a pretty interesting story, involving Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey’s (Jamie Dornan) new found happiness threatened by faces from Christian’s past. We’ll find out if the sequel can overturn the critical reception of the original (the trailer even suggests you “forget the past”) when it hits our screens on February 10th 2017.
