IndieCork which is set to present it’s fourth festival from October 9th to 16th launched the official 2016 Programme at the Rising Sons Brewery in Cork this week.
The Festival screenings will take place at The Gate Cinema and the festival also proudly announces a new Festival Centre in association with new sponsor Blacknight Solutions which will be based in the Kino Cinema, the original arthouse cinema in Cork. It will provide a networking space for IndieCork delegates and guests, screen films and present talks, workshops and public interviews. The Blacknight Festival Centre is also the venue for the festival’s independent music showcase, and this will kick off on Sunday 9th October with the legendary Dr. Strangely Strange. For the first time, IndieCork is also supported by the Arts Office of Cork City Council.
Audiences can look forward to an increased number of Irish feature length films, a varied array of Irish and world short films plus a fascinating music schedule that includes cutting edge sound artists, bands and performers.
As always IndieCork is committed to development and collaboration and have scheduled a wide variety of workshops, talks and events throughout the festival. The return of two directors back with their second indie features is a shining example of the success of this collaborative and developmental ethos. Maurice O’Carroll who first showcased three of his short films at IndieCork in 2013 is now back as the Opening Night film with his laugh-out-loud and already sold out comedy Dead Along The Way.
One of IndieCork’s quickly established favourites, “Film Feast” is taking place at the new Blacknight Festival Centre at the Kino Cinema, and this year sees Italian film Mid-August Lunch take to the screen. Mary Pawle organic wines and local Cork food producers will provide the refreshments on the night. One of the most popular events at IndieCork, this year promises to be even more memorable than ever as the venerable Kino Cinema is transformed into a banquet for this unrivalled film and food event.
