Tomorrow, as those of you with a calendar close to hand, are aware will be October 26th. This is seriously big day in movie history. Why? Well, at 1:16am Marty McFly arrived at the Twin Pines Mall and at 1:20am a dog called Einstein became the worlds first time traveller, albeit a time travelling dog. At 1:21am, the flux capacitor fitted DeLorean re-appears and the temporal displacement experiment is deemed a success. Tragically, the man who made it all possible, Dr. Emmett Brown was killed by Libyan terrorists at 1:33am. 2 minutes after his untimely death, Marty McFly flees the scene trying to save his own bacon and ends up in 1955, and thus becomes the first human time traveller.
Who’d have thought that 25 years ago a movie with a crazy old scientist and a skateboarding kid would have left such an impression. I get chills thinking about the whole thing and never before have dates been celebrated like the dates in Back To The Future. So, a moment of reflection I think is called for at 1:20am tomorrow morning, before you go knuckle shuffling around the web!
