A lengthy list of directors has been released over at Hitfix, finalizing the contenders for the Best Director Nominees. Out of the list, I'm absolutely praying that David O. Russell and Ben Affleck make the cut. Affleck because he's proven to be an exceptionally talented filmmaker (as opposed to actor...eek) and Russell because, in my eyes at least, the man is a genius (Three Kings!). As great as it would be to see that happen, pretty much all these directors are deserved of an award. It should be pretty interesting to see if the Academy acknowledge Scorsese this year, too.

Russell, Danny Boyle, Darren Aronofsky, Joel and Ethan Coen, Peter Weir, Lisa Chodolenko, Tim Burton, Tom Hooper, Roman Polanski, Ben Affleck, Clint Eastwood, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, James L. Brooks and John Cameron.
