The internet is currently swirling as reports across the Hollywood trade newspapers are reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio is officially in talks with Quentin Tarantino to play Calvin Candie, the villainous plantation owner in Django Unchained. In the script, Candie runs 'Candyland', a devilish club in the deep south where female slaves (one of whom is Django's wife) are treated as sexual objects. Deadline also points out that while the Inception star has not yet officially signed on, at this point it's highly likely that he will take the role. Their article also hints at the probability of the previously rumoured Will Smith playing Django as unlikely as of right now. Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson are also expected to officially sign on soon.
