Despite almost universal criticism of his hosting attempt at the Oscars, James Franco’s career hasn’t slowed down. When he’s not engaging in bizarre art projects such as selling air for ten grand, he has many many film projects lined up.
Empire are reporting that he’s now taken on another – Child of God, a novel by Cormac McCarthy of Blood Meridien fame (incidentally he tried adapting that too, but has stopped). No word on what involvement he has planned – assume directing – but this isn’t an easy sell.
The original story, set in Tennessee, focuses on a loner ex-con who chooses to shun society, and being a McCarthy novel, GRIM THINGS follow. Franco is an unknown quantity in terms of directing, but seeing how involved he gets in roles I wouldn’t bet against him here. It will be a long time coming however as he has a lot on his plate, including shooting megabudget Oz: Great and Powerful right now.
