Will it EVER happen?
I’m not so sure. I mean, the talk about a threequel to the much-loved comedies has increased of late, with word going around that a script is being sorted, but it still seems like Ghostbusters 3 is in constant development hell. Not only that, but Bill Murray seems to be refusing to do it, which would be a massive let down for fans.
In talking to Coming Soon, she of Alien-fighting and ageless face fame, Sigourney Weaver, brought up the very issue of a third movie, saying;
‘I have yet to read the script. I’ve had a couple of calls and I know they’re rewriting and all I said was that I hope my son, Oscar, has grown up to be a Ghostbuster and Ivan Reitman said yes. Beyond that, I have no idea. I hope it comes together, but we already did two wonderful films and, if we have to let this one go, that’s fine.’
Doesn’t sound hugely committal just yet, does she? The fact that she hasn’t read the script suggests the movie is still a way off, but interesting to hear her take on the whole thing and it’s great to see that she still actually has an interest in the franchise. You can catch the whole interview over on Coming Soon, where she also sheds some spoiler-iffic tidbits on Avatar 2.
