The new poster for Johnny Depp's upcoming comedy, The Rum Diary has been released via Apple. The film, co-starring Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart and Giovanni Ribisi tells the story of Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself among a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.
This, along with last month's trailer, reeks of Fear & Loathing to me. And while some may think it's not a bad thing, it all feels like a bad omen in my opinion. Could this mean the film borrows too much from Thompson's other adaptation and doesn't have it's own personality? Hmm.
