According to entertainment Weekly Jason Statham is to produce and star in a remake of the film Heat. the Heat in question is not the Michael Mann, Rober De Niro offering from the mid 90’s but rather a remaking of the 1986 Dick Richards film which features Burt Reynolds as a former mercenary now turned bodyguard in Las Vegas, who fights the mob and is trying his best to save up enough money to move to Venice in Italy. Steven Chasman known for his work on Killer Elite will join Statham as a producer with the film to be directed by Brian De Palma.
80 year old William Goldman penned the original film script which was based on his own novel of the same name and is also writing for this remake, he last time he wrote a screenplay was for the 2003 Dreamcathcer. There is no word on who will co-star with Statham in this new version but shooting is scheduled to start in France later in the year. The film which will be the newest in a long line of Statham action movies has no fixed release date as of yet.
