Originally to be directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), production on the the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, to be titled simply The Wolverine, is now back on track. After several delays, including Aronofsky giving up the directors chair to Girl, Interrupted director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman taking time out to film Les Miserables, the film is now set for release on July 26th 2013.
Jackman will reprise the role of Logan, the gruff mutant with the razor sharp claws, a role he has had since 2000's X-Men. While the character's first solo film got less than favourable reviews, early word on the sequel is that it will be much darker and serious in tone than it's predecessor.
Picking up where Origins left off, it will find Logan, in Japan, where he falls in love with a local woman who is engaged to another man. Not willing to take "no" for an answer, Logan soon finds himself in battle with the woman's family, and the movies main villain, The Silver Samurai.
