If you, like me, were very much indifferent to the RoboCop reboot last year, then this news may actually come as a surprise; it seems there is still talk of moving forward with another movie.
Despite relatively poor box office receipts in the U.S. the movie opened very well in China, and now it's being reported that Sony may go ahead with a follow up, either co-produced by a Chinese company or partially set in the East.
China only allows 34 foreign movies to be shown there each year, and because of population alone, any movie lucky enough to make that shortlist usually does quite well from the territory.
The biggest hurdle will be getting Joel Kinnaman to return as the cyborg, given his contractual obligations now with Warner Bros and Suicide Squad. We'll keep an eye on this and see how it develops...for the few of you who really really liked that movie!
