Following on from yesterday’s reveal of the title, Spider-Man: Homecoming is zeroing on it’s villain to menace Tom Holland’s wall-crawler, and it seems Sony and Marvel Studios have their hearts set on Michael Keaton to jump back into the superhero game, according to Variety. There is no word on who the former Batman will be playing, though rumours have started to to do the rounds that The Vulture will be the big bad this time round. Now, bear with me because I know this character and story arc has been done to death at this stage, but I think Keaton would be perfect as Norman Osborn. We all know he’s able to bring the intensity, and he’s proven he can switch from serious to crazy at the drop of a hat. But it’s all speculation at this stage, and no doubt we’ll hear something more concrete after the new Spider-Man swings his first web in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
If Keaton does indeed sign on the bottom line, he will join Holland, Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), and Disney Channel star Zendraya, so far cast in an unknown role, for the Jon Watts (Cop Car) directed reboot.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release July 7th 2017.
