Last year, Jennifer Lawrence addressed whether or not she would be going blue as Mystique for future X-Men movies, saying quite bluntly that X-Men: Apocalypse will be her last one. Not that anyone could blame her, she signed onto First Class before she became a mega star, and maybe she has outgrown the super hero genre as her star continues to rise. Or maybe not. In recent weeks, Lawrence has began to change her tune on the matter, and now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she pretty much confirms that she isn’t quite ready to put the chaarcter behind her:
“I would love to come back. I love the fans and I love the character. But then you realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.”
But there’s a caveat, involving an all-or-nothing deal meaning that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender would have to come back too:
“Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are.”
Withe the next instalment following the trend of previous three movie and being set in the 90’s, there is room for the three stars to return, though everything points to the younger X-Men introduced in Apocalypse being the focus of the series going forward. What do you think? Should Mystique return? Sound off in the comments below.
