Teaming up with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, Robert Zemeckis is bringing all the action and intrigue of World War II era spy craft to the big screen with Allied, with a hefty dollop of romance thrown on top. Our glimpses of the film have not been that in depth so far, but now the first official trailer has come our way, really lifting the lid of what to expect.
What is on offer here does look absolutely gorgeous, with a great old school vibe, but what we see of the story does feel quite predictable and ver ‘been there, done that’. That’s not to say Zemeckis can’t pull this off. Some of the action does look spectacular, and, a laughable sex scene during a sand storm aside, the romance feels believable (let your Brangelina split conspiracy theories starting flying now), I’m just hoping there’s more to the story that what we’re presented here.
Released: November 25th
Synopsis: ALLIED is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.
